Breast
Buds Celebrates 2nd Anniversary Founder
Retires After a Decade of Service We
excitedly celebrate the beginning of our 3rd year of service in
our Arizona Community! Thank
you to all of you for your continued trust and support! Our
two support groups ( We
say good-bye to Christine Faraci-Tivnan, our Founder, who retired in May
from providing patient care.
In the 18 months she pioneered Breast Buds, she provided over 2000
services. Christine began
Breast Buds to meet the increasing demands for individualized survivorship
support services. Studies
indicate that addressing these psycho-emotional-somatic issues along a
continuum of care is paramount to full recovery. We pledge to meet these needs
comprehensively and compassionately.
Breast
Buds Officers and Board of Directors We
respectfully introduce: Nancy
Phleger,
President, Board Member 2004-present, is a
remarkable, lively, determined, lovely woman. Diagnosed with
multi-node-positive breast cancer over 3 years ago she maintained her
dedication to health and wellness, exercising throughout treatment,
complementing medical care with alternative. A blossoming public speaker, Nancy
directs and facilitates our West Valley Glendale Support Group along with
her new duties as corporation president. Bonnie
Skochinski,
Treasurer, Advisory Board 2004-2005, Board Member
2005-present, has been helping those diagnosed with cancer for much of
her life—the most recent years through patient assistance and management
of Tina’s Treasures, SHC. To
our dismay, Bonnie experienced her own breast cancer diagnosis not even
one year ago. With her usual
humor, warmth, beauty, and grit, Bonnie is doing wonderfully. She continues to give of herself
even further through her commitment to carry on the Breast Buds healing
torch. Dianne
Scudder,
Secretary, Board Member, breast cancer survivor, and owner
of Scudder Technologies with her husband Rich, volunteers much of her life
to community service. Dianne,
helpful, gracious, compassionate, and considerate, will be co-manning the
helpline along with her corporate secretarial services. Toni
Blume,
Board Member 2004-present, and an over 10 year breast cancer
survivor, has generously supported Breast Buds’ telephone service through
her skin care business at Parkway Medical for the last two years! She also hosted our One Year
Anniversary Celebration.
Throughout the years, Toni has personally helped countless women
who have received a breast cancer diagnosis. We appreciate Toni’s warmth,
wisdom, commitment, kindness and generosity. Amy
Miller,
Board Member 2004-present, Co-secretary 2005, and breast
cancer survivor of 10 years, had a recurrence over three years ago. Her spunk, joy, charm, positive
energy, and courage are contagious!
Throughout the years, she has helped many women diagnosed with
breast cancer, her optimism and life a true banner of hope. Amy also served as Secretary for the Susan G Komen 10th Anniversary
Race for the Cure in 2002. Rich
Scudder,
Board Member, owns Scudder Technologies. After going through breast cancer
with his wife, Dianne, he (they (-:) generously offered to host the Breast
Buds website. We thank you
both very much! Also Rich’s
business talents will be invaluable during this time of rapid
growth. Support
Group Information Having

others. We promote living life to the fullest by sharing our fears,
struggles and frustrations, using our triumphs, joys and humor to move
through and beyond the experience of breast cancer.

need the support of kind, community-minded people like you to continue our
services! Most funding
organizations provide monies for research toward the cure, early
detection, and treatment, leaving support and education organizations that
are in the trenches actually helping the SURVIVORS without
